best software for capturing hdv footage?

I have a Canon HV 40 camcorder I was wondering which software is the best for capturing hdv video? I currently use HDVSplit but I don't think it is importing at best quality. When i hooked my camera to my HDTV the qaulity was great but in my PC its not that good and i have a pretty decent videocard that can handle HD and a good LCD monitor.

I am convinced that it's the software that doen's capture at full quality. I have tried capturing with premiere pro and somehow it doesn't recognize my camcorder.

So which is the best software for capturing HDV footage?

Pleas correct me if i am wrong at soemthing...

  1. Little Dog says:

Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere for Windows/Vista.

    iMovieHD, FinalCut for Macintosh.

    Use the editor’s Import function.
