Can I add a lens to a point and shoot camera?

i know that point and shoot cameras don't have a thread for an extra lens but i saw this video where you can basically glue one on

i was wondering if i could do this to the canon sd780 witch i use for video purposes
i'm trying to achieve a wide angle effect like the one displayed in the video
here's what the the canon sd780 looks like

and what the flip ultra hd looks like

i chose the canon over the flip because it has slightly better video and audio quality
it also does pictures

You need something like this to attach extra lenses to your camera.
You can add attachments with a 37mm thread. (Ignore the Pentax designation it will fit virtually any camera with a tripod mount.)

    Lens attachments….

Only a very few P&S cameras have lenses available to attach to specific cameras.

As the former P&S shooters upgrade to DSLR cameras where they have a choice of from at least 25 lenses, up to 60 (Nikon and Canon systems), less and less P&S cameras support axillary lenses.

It this is an important feature, you will have to do some research before you buy your next P&S camera

Partially disassembling your camera to add a different lens is up to you, however it will void the warranty.

A add on lens for point & shoot camera is a waste of money. If there was one available, don’t you think the manufacturer would do it so they could make all the money possible on the camera. These cameras are designed for the Kodak Brownie box camera crowd of 40 years ago. Just something to record the occasion, and who cares the quality the camera gives, there is a 99 9/10 chance nobody will make a print larger than 4×6 anyways.
"Glue a lens onto your camera"? I hope it is out of warranty as I don’t know of any manufacturer who would touch an altered camera in that way. And maybe they still would refuse repairing such an altered camera, even if under warranty.
Make a friend…..give this camera away and get one with the features you need.
