Canon Vixia hf10/100, maximum flash memory?

I looked in the manual and it mentions how much recording time for 1GB, 2GB and up to 8GB memory cards. Do these camcorders accept up to 16 Gb memory cards or is 8GB the most?
I haven't bought it yet but I want to be able to record 2 to 2.5 hours continuously, preferably in HD. I haven't bought any camera yet just doing research. I am considering a hard drive type of camcorder but the flash memory seems so darn easy since computers and tvs have slots for those now.

Refer to page 121 in the manual

in the section "Recording media". There is no limitation in the memory card size. BUT you need to be sure that memory card used has the appropriate "Speed Class" rating. Refer to pages 31 and 32 (Must be Class 4.)

There is no reference in the manual to this – but be aware that LONG video clips – those over 20 minutes, will be split into 20 minute chunks. In your case (baseball game, lets say two hours and 15 minutes) will be 8 chunks… 60 minutes x 2 = 240 minutes… 240 divided by 20 minutes = 7 chunks + the leftover 15 minute chunk. There will be no loss of data as the camera close one file at the end of 20 monutes and opens the new file. You can make one big file – combine the "chunks" using a video editor that can deal with AVCHD (MTS) format video.

The software that comes in the box with the camcorder is useless and there is no reason to install it.

TVs cannot do anything with the AVCHD (MTS video files) video on the memory card – they can "playback" only (JPEG) stills on the memory card. To playback the high definition video, connect the camcorder to the HDTV with a HDMI cable.
