Has anyone captured footage from a Sony HDR-SR1 or SR7 using iMove on their Mac?

I'm looking to purchase a camcorder to create HD blog videos. Has anyone had success capturing their footage from a Sony HDR-SR1 or SR7 to iMovie using their Mac? I have a Macbook Pro 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 3GB of ram. I have both iMovie 6 and 7 (I prefer the interface of v.6 than v.7).

    The Sony HDR-SR1 and HDR-SR7 are hard disc drive, AVCHD camcorders. With the camcorder in PC mode and connected with a USB cable, the hard drive should mout to the desktop like any other mass storage device.

    iMovieHD 6 cannot deal with AVCHD files.

    iMovieHD 7 can deal with AVCHD files when iMovieHD 7 (also sometimes called iMovieHD ’08 because it shipped with iLife ’08) is running on a Intel Mac.
